Terms of Service
Last updated October 15, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Nephite Atlas ("we", "us"), which operates Nephite Atlas (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use it.
1. Who can use the Service
You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission to use the Service and to buy a subscription, and they agree to these Terms on your behalf.
2. What the Service is
Nephite Atlas is an independent study tool about the scripture, doctrine and history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and does not speak for it. The names of the Church and its publications are used only to describe the subject of the Service. For official teaching, see churchofjesuschrist.org and your local Church leaders.
3. Answers are generated by artificial intelligence
Answers are written by a computer AI model, not by a person. We check scripture references and quotations against the text and show you what we could and could not verify, but answers can still be incomplete or wrong. The Service is a study aid. It is not a substitute for personal study, prayer, or the counsel of Church leaders, and it does not give legal, medical, financial, mental-health or other professional advice. If you are in crisis, contact local emergency services.
4. Accounts
You can try the Service without an account. If you sign in with your email, keep access to that email secure; anyone who can open your sign-in links can use your account. Tell us promptly at [email protected] if you think your account has been misused.
5. Plans, billing and automatic renewal
- Free Trial. A small allowance (3 research questions and 1 Come, Follow Me lesson preview, which never reset, plus 10 scripture lookups and 2 cross-reference searches a month). No payment details are needed and it never turns into a paid plan on its own.
- Paid plans (Scholar $10/month, Scholar Plus $20/month, Scholar Pro $50/month) are monthly subscriptions. Your plan renews automatically every month and you are charged the then-current price at the start of each monthly period until you cancel. Prices are shown before you buy, and you must agree to these renewal terms at checkout.
- Each plan includes the allowances shown on the pricing page for each kind of activity: research questions, Deep Research questions, scripture lookups, cross-reference searches, Come, Follow Me lessons, custom lesson plans and talk preparations. Each activity uses only its own allowance (for example, a Deep Research question uses one Deep Research credit). Allowances reset at the start of each billing period and unused credits do not carry over. A few follow-up questions on an answer are included without using your allowance. If we cannot complete a request because of an error on our side, it is not counted.
- Fair use. Features shown as "unlimited" have no monthly cap but are subject to disclosed daily limits (currently 250 research questions, 2,000 scripture lookups, 150 cross-reference searches and 30 talk preparations per account per day) and a limit on how many answers one account can have in progress at once, so the shared service stays fast for everyone. Accounts may not be shared or used to resell the Service.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
- We will give you at least 30 days' notice by email before any price increase takes effect for you. If you don't want to pay the new price, cancel before it takes effect.
6. Cancel anytime; no refunds
You can cancel at any time in your account (Account → Manage billing), online, without contacting us. Cancellation stops future renewals and takes effect at the end of your current monthly period; you keep access until then. All payments are final and non-refundable, including for partial months and unused questions, except where a refund is required by law. See Cancellation & Refunds.
If you are a consumer in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you ask us to start providing the Service immediately, and you acknowledge that you lose your 14-day right of withdrawal once the Service has started.
Gifts. A gift is a one-time payment for 1 or 3 months of a plan. It does not renew and creates no subscription. The gift code does not expire; the months begin when it is redeemed, by a signed-in account without an active subscription. Redeeming more gifts of the same plan adds months; a gift of a different plan can be redeemed after the current one ends. Gift purchases are final and non-refundable, except where a refund is required by law. If we discontinue the Service, gift sales stop, and gifts already redeemed remain available through the end of their months or the closing date described in section 7.
7. If we discontinue the Service
We may stop offering the Service. If we do, we will email subscribers at least 30 days before the closing date, stop all renewals so you are not charged again, and keep the Service available to you through the end of the period you have already paid for. You will be able to download your saved answers before it closes. We may also suspend the Service briefly for maintenance or events outside our control.
8. Acceptable use
Please use the Service respectfully and lawfully. Do not: harass others or use the Service to mock any faith; try to break, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer it; get around question limits or create accounts to evade them; resell or redistribute its answers as your own service; or use it to create content that is unlawful, hateful or deceptive. We may limit, suspend or close accounts that break these rules, without refund.
9. Your content
You own the questions you ask. You give us permission to process them, and to store your questions and answers, in order to provide and improve the Service as described in our Privacy Policy. If you create a share link, anyone with the link can read that conversation until you delete it.
10. Our content and third-party sources
The Service's design, text and software belong to Nephite Atlas. Scripture texts are in the public domain. Deep Research shows short excerpts from other websites with links to the original; those materials belong to their owners and are subject to their terms. If you believe content on the Service infringes your rights, write to us and we will review it promptly.
11. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy. We do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Nephite Atlas is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data or profits, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
13. Indemnity
If you use the Service in breach of these Terms or the law and that causes a claim against us, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of that claim.
14. Disputes
Please contact us first; most problems can be solved quickly. If we can't resolve a dispute informally within 30 days, it will be governed by the laws of South Carolina, and either of us may bring it in the state or federal courts located in South Carolina or in small-claims court where you live.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We will post the new version here with a new date and, for material changes, email subscribers before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the changes.
